Komodo – Liveaboard Diving Itinerary

May – November, 10 nights
Diving in Komodo National Park is best done by liveaboard, which allows you to explore the Komodo dive sites to their fullest. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1991, the park and surrounding area boasts one of the world’s richest marine environments, with over 260 species of reef building coral, 70 species of sponge, marine worms, mollusks, echinoderm and crustacea, over 1000 species of fish, marine reptiles and marine mammals. The waters of the Sunda Sea teem with life from reef sharks and manta rays to bobtail squid and the minute “lady bug“. Other notable species include pygmy seahorses, frogfish, nudibranchs, Napolean wrasse, trevally jack and groupers. The diving here is varied from shallow muck dives, sloping reefs and dark volcanic sand, sumberged pinnacles and steep reef walls. Currents can be strong but bring with them all the delights of diving in Indonesia. Let Siren Fleet liveaboards take you there!

Just a short flight from Bali, the S/Y Indo Siren’s first stop on this 10 night diving adventure, is the muck dive spot of the “Unusual Suspects”, in Bima Bay. We spend the night here before sailing on to Sangeang Island with its dark volcanic sand or Gili Banta. By the third day we arediving within the Komodo National Park in the areas of Gilli Lawa Laut and Batu Bolong where strong currents can be experienced, bringing with them grey reef and white tip sharks and schools of snappers and fusileers.

Our Indonesia Liveaboards stop at either Rincaor Komodo islands to make a walk with the dragons before cruising southwards to Nusa Kode where in the shelter of Horseshoe Bay are numerous dive sites incluingCannibal Rock, Torpedo Alley and Yellow Wall.  Across the strait on the south of Komodo Island we spend the day diving the aptly named Manta Alleybefore returning northwards once again to dive sites that were not viisted during the southward journey. Our final day is spent in Bima Bay, where the calm waters offer the perfect spot for some kayaking or water skiing.

Raja Ampat – Liveaboard Diving Itinerary

November – June, 10 nights
Raja Ampat is all about diversity, not only of marine species but also of dive sites. Recently declared a marine sanctuary to 46,000 square km park gives you wildly different dive experiences. From pelagic drift dives to magical muck dives and even some habitats that are special to Raja Ampat such as clear water mangroves with corals growing right next to them; There are thousands of potential dive sites in Raja Ampat. Exploration is still continuing and on every trip there are chances for new and amazing discoveries.

Departing from Sorong the S/Y Indo Siren cruises southwards towards Misool, stopping for “muck” dives on the dark sand slopes of Batanta where its critters galore! We then spent up to 3 days diving a variety of sites in the Misool area for their stunning corals, including Boo Windows and Gorgonian Passagewhere sea fans dominate the scenery. Heading back northwards we dive around Fam Penemu & Yangeffo islands. Here we find the site of Citrus Ridge, where carpets of brightly coloured soft corals can be found close to the surface which, illuminated by natural sunlight, make this dive site spectacularly beautiful.

There is time for snorkelling in the mangroves and a visit to tiny Airborek Island along with a dusk dive at the pier before heading on to Mansuar for some manta ray action at Manta Sandy. In the Dampier Strait there are the fish and lots of them, in more shapes and sizes than anywhere else in the world. Not only are there numerous species, but all the levels of the food chain are well represented – from pygmy seahorses to larger pelagics. The most famous sites include Cape Kri and Sardinewhere speedy drifts can be expected. The reefs in Raja Ampat just buzz with life! Manta rays, wobbegong sharks and epaulette sharks can all be found in the waters of the Four Kings.

Banda Sea – Liveaboard Diving Itineraries

October & May
Diving the Banda Sea‘s remote islands is only possible by liveaboard. The region stretches from Nusa Tengarra in the south to Raja Ampat in the far north with Ceram Island at the centre. Siren Fleet 10-14 night discovery trips give you the opportunity to combine diving in these remote islands with diving in Flores and Alor in the south, Ambon just south of Ceram and Raja Ampat to the far north. Each trip provides a superb combination of walls and pinnacles, coral gardens and muck diving with the chance to explore new sites and find new creatures.
