Turtlewatching

We have five different species of turtles in the Maldives, the Green, the Hawksbill, the Olive Ridley turte, the Loggerhead and the Leatherback turtle. Of these species most frequent visitors of our islands are the Green and Hawksbill turtles.

These turtles come to our shores to lay eggs. They don't like busy light beaches but dark and quite beaches so the chances to see them on a local island is a lot bigger than on a resort.

If you are interested to watch turtles lay eggs let us know and we will ask the locals to inform us if they see any turtles come to our island at night. It might be of your interest that turtles are protected under the Maldivian law since 1995.
